New Ideas for New Holland Opens in St Petersburg

An exhibition of new ideas for New Holland Island, a unique 8-hectare site in the heart of historic St Petersburg, is now open at the new Naval Museum directly opposite the Island.

The exhibition, curated by The Architecture Foundation (AF) and designed by David Kohn Architects showcases the work of eight architectural practices, including four that have been shortlisted for the influential role of master-planning consultant for the Island’s future development as a result of an invited competition organised by the AF for the Iris Foundation.

It is the first time that these eight practices and their respective visions have been shown together allowing the public the chance to see what proposals were put forward and reflect on what their hopes and wishes for New Holland are.

The shortlisted practices are David Chipperfield Architects (UK/Germany), MVRDV (Netherlands), Studio 44 (Russia) and WORKac (USA).

New Ideas for New Holland coincide with the first public tours of New Holland.
