Greetings From London

Over 1,000 people participated in the Greetings from London project by filling in postcards available at Selfridges, Oxford Street, at the Farmiloes buildings, Headquarters for the London Architecture Biennale, and also in the Architecture Week London programme guide. All the ideas were exhibited on the Architecture Foundation's website and provided a powerful insight into the desires and ideas for London from a huge cross-section of society.
Now, an intriguing sampling of these responses is available in book form. Printed as post-cards themselves, the entries chosen within Greetings from London represent some thought-provoking, introspective ideas on what London should, and could be.
A significant proportion of responses call for a greener city- more trees, green spaces and small interventions like benches and lighting that provide resting and thinking places around the city. Others focus on resolving the traffic problems of the city with elevated monorails, river boats, cheap (or free) public transport for all and more cycling all being proposed as solutions.
