Barking Urban Pioneers

December 2010 - April 2011

In 2011 The Architecture Foundation's Urban Pioneers programme went to Barking. A group of six young people with a keen interest in architecture and the built environment spent three months critically exploring their surroundings with a variety of creative professionals. The Pioneers focussed on housing and urban public space with architects AHMM, muf and We Made That. Along with artist and filmmaker Verity-Jane Keefe, photographer Gemma Thorpe and oral historian Judith Garfield from Eastside Community Heritage. Their findings were presented at a public event at The Architecture Foundation in April 2011.
