Special Morning Viewing of Studio East Dining
Sun 27 June 2010, 11.00am-12.00noonThis event is now fully booked. A limited number of tickets remain for patrons and supporters of The Architecture Foundation
To celebrate the East London weekend of the London Festival of Architecture, The Architecture Foundation, Bistrotheque and Westfield invite you a very special morning viewing of Studio East Dining – the Carmody Groarke designed rooftop pavilion and temporary restaurant, perched above the live construction site of Europe’s soon-to-be largest shopping mall, Westfield Stratford City.
On the edge of the Olympic Park, the pavilion, constructed from everyday materials borrowed from the site which will be returned after use – scaffolding, boards, plastic sheeting – elegantly frames breathtaking views over London's metropolis, the Olympic Stadium, and Zaha Hadid's 2012 Aquatics Centre, 35m above the ground.
With Carmody Groarke on hand to personally introduce the project, this offers a one-off opportunity to view the architecture in an informal walk through and complimentary coffee, and to visit the much talked-about dining room, which is usually accessed by restaurant reservation only.
