Futureproofing the City
Chaired by Paul Finch, Programme Director, World Festival of Architecture

Three very different approaches to ecological challenge at the urban scale, and the question of sustainable living. Gerard Evenden, Foster + Partners, will present their design for Masdar, an entirely self-sustaining ‘city from zero’ in the Arabian desert; Susannah Hagan, University of Brighton, R/E/D, will address how to retro-fit the rapidly sprawling metropolis, taking Sao Paulo as a case study; and Bill Dunster, architect of celebrated eco-settlement BedZED, will present ZEDfactory’s current global solutions.
