London_Rome: Work in Process

Andrea Stipa
Inside Out
19 March - 8 June 2009

The conference and the exhibition of Andrea Stipa is the fourth event in the "London-Rome: Work in Process."

The study by Andrea Stipa, founded in 1996, is today considered one of the most interesting in the panorama of Rome in his work as an architect, Stipa stands for a pragmatic approach that seeks to hold together the ambitions of the client and the complexity of place through architecture tactile of volume, material and light. By no coincidence, Stipa often collaborated with artists such as Carla Accardi, Alfredo Pirri and Corrado Sassi. Characteristic of the practice's projects is the diversity of type and scale.

The research project focuses on the dialectic between open space and closed space, between outside and inside, between nature and artifice. These elements extend the dialectical perception of architecture and, "Help to define a space never static that leaves open the possibility of appropriation and transformation to more people." These will be some of the themes developed in the 'installation of the exhibition "Inside Out".

The exhibition presents a selection of six projects, presented through models, diagrams, pictures and texts, to form an installation articulated in the three spatial dimensions, positioned within the exhibition space.

Among the exhibited works are public projects like schools for children at Prato-Galcetello, parking for trade with businesses in Rome, the residential area and the music of VEMA (X Architecture Biennale in Venice), the project for a residential neighborhood with services (international competition "Living in Milan"). Among the positions individuals are exposed to the restructuring and expansion of a house in Tuscany and the restructuring of the movie ANICA in Rome.

Andrea Stipa received the award for the project Giancarlo de Carlo "Vema-Soundscape" at the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2007, and the prize for INARCH debut in 2000 with the Parish Center SS: Right and given to Monteroni d'Arbia.
