Real Architecture: Hawkins / Brown & Studio Egret West presents Park Hill, Sheffield, UK

22 Nov 2006 7pm

Roger Hawkins, a former architecture student and resident of Sheffield, and Christophe Egret lead one of the most challenging housing regeneration projects in England to date. The new proposal for Park Hill estate, a dominant backdrop to Sheffield City originally conceived in 1961, aims to provide a solution to the site_s complex social and cultural problems caused by years of neglect. The project also highlights the progressive thinking of the original design, considered a seminal example of Modernist housing, and serves as a leading case study for new collaborative practices in architecture. The project is in collaboration with Andrew Grant Associates.
