The Architecture Foundation's immensely successful first directory of new architectural practices in Britain. As in many other fields of cultural endeavour, Britain was then experiencing a period of vibrancy and international recognition. This book listed 83 of the best emerging practices and included detailed information for all those interested in contemporary architecture and, most importantly, for those who wished to commission new and innovative design.

The book was also presented as an exhibition, at Glasgow's Central Station and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
