Foyer Competition: An International Competition for Britain’s First New–Build Foyer

To celebrate its twentieth birthday, Shelter, the charity for the homeless, asked the AF to coordinate an international design competition for young architects to design Britain’s first new–build Foyer, a transitional centre for homeless youth.

The winning design for the £2.5 million Foyer by Ian Simpson Associates was subsequently built in Birmingham and opened for business in 1998.

Foyer Exhibition: The Real Ideal Home

The Real Ideal Home exhibition featured the twelve shortlisted designs of the international competition for Britain’s first purpose–designed foyer, a transitional centre for young people.
