If you Build It, Will They Come? From Bilbao to Hastings, now available to watch online
'If You Build It, Will They Come? From Bilbao to Hastings' brought together an expert panel of speakers to explore the role of UK arts institutions and culture in providing a sense of civic identity and stimulating urban renaissance, in the setting of the newly opened Jerwood Gallery, Hastings.
Chaired by architectural writer and broadcaster, Tom Dyckhoff (The Guardian, The Times, Secret Life of Buildings, The Culture Show), the panel included Peter Jenkinson (cultural broker and first director of The New Art Gallery Walsall), Donna Lynas (Artistic director, Wysing Arts Centre), Victoria Pomery (director, Turner Contemporary), and architects of the Jerwood Hastings, HAT Projects.
Guests were also offered a special tour of the gallery by HAT Projects including an opportunity to see the Jerwood's recently opened Gary Hume: Flashback exhibition.
The series will return in the autumn with two further events at Tate Modern exploring international case studies and speculations towards arts institutions for the future.
