Public vote, communication and participation
Communication and participation
Central to the ethos of the Lift New Parliament is the involvement of a wide and growing range of people in its creation, themes, management, organisation, programmes and protocols. This will be an evolving and reflective as well as an active process as we explore the different routes by which people can participate in and engage with the Lift New Parliament.
The public vote
The public will be invited to contribute to the selection of the final design by voting online for one of the four short-listed entries. The public vote will be equivalent to the vote of one jury member.
Presentation to participants from east London boroughs
The four shortlisted entries will be asked to make presentations to an invited group of participants from east London boroughs. This and a discussion which follows will be facilitated by Glass-House Community Led Design. Feedback from this session will inform the jury’s decision making.
The participation process
As the first part of an ongoing participation and community engagement strategy, a series of participative events will take place between September and November 2006 which will be exploring, amongst other things, how the structure looks, feels and operates. The winning design team will commit to this process.
