A promenade in between the trees

Public space is successful if it invites people to dwell. We want to slow down the hectic pace of Old Street and provide it with a piece of street culture, taking over the ancient idea of the promenade.

The promenade is designed as a strip, with both ends taken up to create space for a flower shop and a café underneath.

We will complete the existing rows of trees with new ones and replace the existing grass with paving.
Lighting in the pavement will be put in a pattern that retraces the most common routes of the people. Another layer of lighting will be installed in the trees to reinforce the idea of walking underneath a green canopy.

New street furniture will invite people to sit down and rest.
