By mapping definable routes, nodes, fields, cuts and weaves
which intertwine the site we could understand what is achieved well and
what is lacking.
By taking away, enhancing, expanding and adding a series of particular
palettes we have started to lay down a new mat.
A system which can be expanded and modified in a clearly recognisable
and structured way emphasized towards the pedestrian.
The scheme reduces the carriageway and raises the pedestrianised area.
By using the central axis through the existing mature trees and creating
piazzas, we utilize the best of what is already there.
Using our maps we have created a new invigorating palette
which includes both differing ground materials (timber, stone, earth,
grass, pebbles) and cafes, kiosks, seating, planting, direct and meandering
routeways, bike parks, public toilets, clear signage and water features.
Our scheme strives to allow both transient and long occupation.
