Land-fill

By ‘capturing’ the up-lit trees in a series of subtly ramped caskets, filled with virgin soil from landfill sites, a connection is made between the consumerist cycle of city life and, and concepts of parks as representations of idealised nature.
A new square crosses the road from the post office, drawing the petrol station forecourt into its paving, and establishing a space of negotiation between cars and people.
Masking the roundabout - forming an ‘end stop’ to the space with a cave-like horizon of activity – are a new grove of trees and a café/kiosk under a spreading lightweight canopy.
